About Calvary Baptist

Welcome from our Pastor

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  I trust it will be a help to you and your family as you look around and see some of the things we have going on and get a general idea of what Calvary Baptist Church is all about.  We do want you to know that our primary goal is to honor the Lord FIRST in all we do.

Our World is ever changing, but we know God’s Word remains!  Rightly dividing the Word of God is extremely important  in this ministry.   It is also valuable to the Spiritual needs of everyone in our world.  Every ministry at Calvary is focused on reaching those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ. Our goal is then to further develop that relationship.

We pray you will be encouraged through the diversity of ministries we have to reach every age group in the area.  It is inspiring to see everyone from our adults to the young ones thrilled to come to the House of the Lord to learn and grow.

While our services are available via Live Stream right here on our website or on our Facebook page, there’s nothing like connecting with your fellow believers and experiencing the Spirit of the Lord move in the service –  so we hope you’ll join us in person soon!

If there’s anything we can do to be of help or assistance to your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Our pastor, Dr. Ray Haskett, assumed the position of Senior Pastor at Calvary in 2004. He came from Rural Retreat Baptist Church where he served as Senior Pastor for 11 years. Pastor Haskett graduated from Tabernacle Baptist Bible College in Greenville, SC in 1986. Members at Calvary would say that Pastor Haskett has a unique love for his people that makes him a great pastor, not just a great preacher.

He and his wife Susan were married in 1981. Both of his sons are in the ministry with Jeremy as Assistant/Youth Pastor here at Calvary.

What We Believe

About the Bible
The whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, as the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16).
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ was born of Mary the Virgin, and is the Son of God, and God the Son (Matthew 1:23).
About Christ's Death
That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18).
About the Resurrection
That He rose Bodily from the grave the third day according to the Scriptures (Matthew 28:6).
About Christ's Current Ministry
That He, only, is the Great High Priest and we need not the intercession of any man, but that Christ ever liveth to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:24-25).
About Christ's Second Coming
That Christ will come again in person, bodily, visibly, to establish His Kingdom on the earth (Acts 1:9-11).
About Salvation
That in order to be saved, the soul must be born again, “Ye Must Be Born Again” (John 3:3-17) by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).
About Believer's Baptism
That every truly born again soul should declare his faith by the act of baptism (immersion in water) setting forth the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4-10).
About the Church
That the church is a body of baptized believers whose only mission is, not to “reform the world” but to preach and teach the Gospel of salvation to the individual soul (Acts 5:42).

Our History

The history of Calvary Baptist Church begins March 15, 1960. Eleven charter members originally named this local assembly New Testament Baptist Church. As the Lord blessed and attendance grew, property was purchased in 1962 from the estate of Kovac Acres and in 1964 our first auditorium was constructed.

The present facilities now stand on these 7+ acres which have undergone many structural changes throughout the years. The addition of a Sunday School wing and Gym in 2003 and the remodel of the old auditorium as our nursery, toddler rooms, and welcome center completed our recent renovations.

The church grew under the leadership of Pastor Marshall Bonds who remained pastor for 37 years until his death on February 9, 2004. During this time, the church increased to the present structures and supported over 100 missionaries in foreign lands and in America.

We are constantly looking to expand the ministries of Calvary Baptist Church. The growth of the local church in spiritual matters is a priority as people come to know Christ and mature in the things of the Lord. It is our goal to provide for the spiritual needs of the soul through sound Biblical teaching.

As we grow together, may we always be “Preaching Christ and Him Crucified!”

I Corinthians 2:2 “For I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.”
